Chronology of Diplomatic Relations
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Latvia were established on 11 March, 1993.
Since 1999, Zurab Marshania Consul General of Georgia to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia has been defending rights of citizens of Georgia.
In September, 2003 Embassy to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia was inaugurated. Mr. David Aptsiauri was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (residence Vilnius).
By Decree N606 of 13 October, 2006 of the President of Georgia, Embassy in the Republic of Latvia was established. Chargée d’affaires Mr. Teimuraz Janjalia was fulfilling his duties from 19 March, 2007, until 6 February 2008.
On 26 February, 2008 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia H.E. Mr. Konstantin Korkelia has presented Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Latvia, H.E. Mr. Valdis Zatlers.
Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia was opened on 31 May, 2006.
